Home Health Coder – Remote

Acucare Health Strategies is seeking a remote home health coder to work with our clients to facilitate appropriate documentation oversight, OASIS reviews, and allocation of proper diagnosis mix codes.

Qualifications:

ICD-10 Home Health Certification (HCS-D or BCHH-C) mandatory; COS-C certification is very desirable
RN with home health experience strongly preferred
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years experience in coding/OASIS review with a home health agency
Proficiency in multiple EMR systems
Excellent customer relationship management
Adept with PC skills including use of Microsoft applications.

Responsibilities:

Accurately assign ICD-10-CM codes to diagnoses from the care plans, and documentation submitted by the client
Perform OASIS review in accordance with guidelines
Follow up with clients to obtain missing or incomplete information
Act as a subject matter expert regarding Coding and OASIS questions by clients and key stakeholders
Keep abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements
Review and identify errors and report them to supervisors or department managers for follow-up
Probe clients’ clinicians when code assignments are unclear, or documentation is inadequate or ambiguous.
